Why Solar

The need and demand for various energy sources are escalating consistently, and the prime sources – Fossil Fuels – are depleting at a rapid rate. The use of fossil fuels causes significant damage to the environment due to the emission of various gasses. Not only has it been the most important resource, but also the most expensive one. Continuous usage has resulted in near depletion of these resources now.

Hence, there is a significant need for shifting to resources that can help sustain the energy requirements of the globe. This need can be overcome with the use of Solar Power which is both clean and eco-friendly. It can be used without the fear of its exhaustion since it’s a renewable source of energy. It is naturally replenished and can solve all problems we are currently facing in the world.

Solar power, also known as clean and green energy, is obtained by harnessing the energy of the sun, either directly as thermal heat or through the use of photovoltaic cells (PV cells) in solar panels and transparent photovoltaic glass to generate electricity. With the passage of time, there has been increased awareness and implementation of these lines resulting in money saving, increased self-sufficiency, and improved sustainability. Besides being cheaper than fossil fuels, this process avoids the costs associated with environmental damage through extraction and dealing with pollution created through combustion. It is clean (no fumes) and renewable.

Over the lifetime of a home solar pv panel system, the money you spend up front to install it stands to yield a phenomenal Return on Investment (ROI). Reduced or almost nil monthly power bills generate savings for the user. Also, there is the potential income that one gets by selling the unused electricity back to the grid. The result is that in 10 to 25 years, one will have a steady and eventually, an increased return.

SOLAR POWER – Why it has an edge

Environment

  1. Clean, Renewable Energy that is emission-free and sustainable
  2. Reduced Dependence on Fossil Fuels
  3. Reduced Carbon Footprint
  4. Reduced Pollution

Power and Energy

  • Reduction of electric bills
  • At initial stage one uses solar-generated electricity as well as draw power from the utility grid
  • In the later stage when the solar generated power is more than required, an excess of it flows back to the utility grid and your meter spins backward
  • Sale of power back to the grid is also possible, and this ‘Net Metering’ makes the use of Solar Power even more worthwhile
  • Protect against rising energy costs
  • Battery Backup is an added advantage. Most solar systems today utilize a battery backup that allows for three plus days storage of the power needed to keep the system running (the best systems offer a minimum of five nights autonomy).
  • Solar Power causes less electricity loss since the loss in energy during transportation is taken care of.

Durability

  • The panels used to generate Solar Power go through tough stages to ensure that they can withstand high winds and extreme weather conditions, such as hail and heavy snowfall before being installed
  • A long life cycle is ensured, as are years of power generation.
  • Moreover, once installed the Solar Power generating system can last for exceptionally long time with any problem except for once in a year inspection.

Convenience

  • Installation is quick, easy and convenient
  • Solar Power can be installed anywhere and slowly; new technology is being used to turning roofing or windows into photovoltaic sources.
  • Solar Power Causes Use for Underutilized Land
  • Insulation of the roof top is a natural positive of the process

Government Supported

  • The government wants us to be green and is trying its best to help in doing so.
  • They are providing tax credits, grants and subsidies to help with the purchase of rooftop solar power systems and its installation.
  • The Government of India plans to set up funds sourced from The World Bank, aimed at protecting the producers of renewable from any payment delay that can happen by power distribution firms. At the same time, the government also intends to protect the distribution firms from any shrinkage that could happen in the market for conventional grid-connected power due to people adopting rooftop solar power generation.
  • The Ministry of Power plans to give investment support renewable energy projects in the country.
  • The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has formulated ways of giving subsidy to most of the solar powered items being used.
